The session lasted around three hours and included approximately 25 students, with a focus on individual portraits, group photos, photos with teachers, parents, friends and natural moments from the celebration.

During the session, I photographed individual portraits of students, smaller friend groups, full class combinations, photos with teachers, family portraits with parents and spontaneous moments from the celebration.
This kind of event requires good timing. Students want beautiful photos, but they also want to enjoy the evening. The photographer has to work efficiently, guide people when needed and still keep the atmosphere natural.
The result should not feel like a forced school photo session. It should feel like an elegant event portrait experience created directly at the celebration.

On-Site Professional Lighting with Godox AD200
One of the most important technical elements of this session was the use of professional on-site off-camera lighting.
Graduation dinners and celebration parties often take place in restaurants, halls or event venues where the available light is not ideal for portraits. The light may be too dark, too yellow, uneven or coming from unflattering directions.
To create consistent and professional results, I used a Godox AD200 off-camera flash during the session.
This allowed me to shape the light directly on location, create cleaner skin tones, separate subjects from the background and produce portraits that look polished even in challenging indoor event conditions.
Off-camera flash is especially important for group photos. It helps illuminate multiple people evenly and gives the images a professional look that is difficult to achieve with available light only.
The goal was not to make the photos look artificial. The goal was to bring studio-quality lighting control into the real event environment.

The session was photographed with a Sony A7IV camera and the Tamron 35–150mm lens.
This combination was very effective for a graduation dinner environment. The Sony A7IV provided reliable image quality and strong autofocus performance, while the Tamron 35–150mm offered excellent flexibility for portraits, group photos and candid event moments.
The 35–150mm range is especially useful for this type of event because it allows quick transitions between tighter individual portraits, small group photos and more natural documentary-style moments from a comfortable working distance.
At a live event, moments happen quickly. A student laughing with friends, a proud parent standing nearby, a teacher joining a group photo or a spontaneous celebration moment can disappear in seconds. This camera and lens combination helped capture the evening efficiently and professionally.
