During their performance, with the blues-rock sound, warm lights, summer air and intimate open-air atmosphere, I honestly had the feeling of being somewhere in Memphis, Tennessee — the home of blues and rock.

The event lasted more than 3.5 hours, giving the evening enough time to develop naturally.
From the first blues notes by Delta Train to the stronger rock, blues and country-influenced moments of Bosak & The Second Hand Band, the crowd stayed engaged, thrilled and amazed. Audience energy became an important part of the visual story.

My Professional Approach to Open-Air Concert Photography
Photographing a unique open-air concert requires preparation, flexibility and awareness.
Outdoor productions include changing natural light, stage lighting, audience movement, venue surroundings and limited time to capture key moments. The photographer has to adapt constantly.
At Castle Rock Festival, my approach was to capture the full identity of the event: the bands, the crowd, the summer atmosphere, the lighting, the location and the intimate connection between stage and audience.
I focused on wide images showing the festival environment, close performance portraits, musician details, audience reactions and moments where stage light and emotion came together naturally.
The goal was not to create generic concert photos. The goal was to create a gallery that feels specific to Castle Rock Festival — authentic, musical, atmospheric and connected with its unique open-air location in Croatia.
Camera Setup: 2 x Sony A7IV with Tamron Lenses
For this concert coverage, I used 2 x Sony A7IV camera bodies, supported by the Tamron 16–30mm and Tamron 35–150mm lenses.
The Tamron 16–30mm was ideal for wide atmospheric images, the stage, the audience, the open-air setting and the feeling of the festival location next to the medieval fortress.
The Tamron 35–150mm was perfect for performance portraits, tighter musician shots, emotional moments, guitar details and images where the energy of the band needed to be isolated.
Using two camera bodies allowed me to move quickly between wide storytelling and close live-performance photography without losing time changing lenses. At concerts, the strongest moments often last only a second, so technical preparation is essential.
